KRISTIN DAWN HANSON November 3, 1974 - July 4, 2011 Much too soon, Kristin passed away at St. Boniface Hospital, peacefully and in the embrace of those who loved her dearly. Kristin was born and grew up in Winnipeg. She completed her primary and secondary education in French Immersion programs at Brock-Corydon, Dieppe, Charleswood Junior High and Oak Park High Schools. Thereafter, Kristin graduated from The University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Arts degree and, while employed full-time, attained her designation as a Certified General Accountant. At the time of her death, Kristin was a Senior Financial Analyst with Canada Revenue Agency. Over the years, Kristin worked for and made many friends at Shoppers' Drug Mart, Air Canada, and Great-West Life. Kristin's phenomenal memory and attention to detail served her well not only on the job but also in a favourite pastime, trivia games. She was an organizer par excellence, always helping family and friends to remember and plan for events big or small. A devoted daughter, sister, wife and friend, Kristin could be counted on to provide assistance where and when needed. Kristin served the community by enthusiastically participating in Dragon Boat racing, by regularly donating blood, and by participating in the Walk for the Cure. Kristin also greatly enjoyed dining at favourite Winnipeg restaurants, attending Bomber games, MTC theatre, and many concerts, driving her Mini Cooper, listening to bands at the King's Head, and sipping the occasional glass of red wine. Her love of travel inspired her to enter a contest sponsored by a Down Under winery to travel to Australia; she won. In her spare time, Kristin loved to bake. Treasured recipes for chocolate chip cookies and 1940s era wacky cakes were favourite treats made for family occasions. Kristin met her friend and husband, Alex, through work at Great-West Life. They married in June, 2008 at a beautiful ceremony and reception on the rooftop terrace of The Winnipeg Art Gallery. Left to mourn Kristin's passing are husband, Alex; parents, Dawn and Brian Hanson; brother, Evan; in-laws, Egon and Cathy Schneider and family; many relatives and good friends; and her two cats, Noah and Peanut. At Kristin's request, a private ceremony has been planned. Flowers are gratefully declined. Persons wishing to donate in Kristin's memory are asked to send a monetary gift to The Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of their choice.
